Thieves target Belgian Gardens Cemetery

December 6, 2024 6:36 am in by

A garden dedicated to families who have lost a child has been desecrated with a wind chime reported stolen.

It’s part of a monument for those who have experienced the loss of a child due to miscarriage, stillbirth, childhood illness or suicide.

Councillor Ann-Maree Greaney says she is extremely angry and disappointed that someone would target such a site.

“To have part of this special space desecrated is unacceptable,” she says.

“If you have the windchime, you can return it to 103 Walker Street or the Forever Garden.

“Council has reported the theft to Queensland Police Service. If you have information, please call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
