Police divers have found the body of a man in Plantation Creek in Ayr this afternoon.
The 48-year-old Ayr man went missing in Plantation Creek around 1.30am on September 14.
He and a second man were walking along Pool Street around 1am. They then tracked through a football field and the golf course before entering Plantation Creek between Kennedy Street and Edward Street.
One man returned to the creek bank and called to his friend but could not find him and did not see him exit the creek.
Ayr Acting Officer in Charge Acting Senior Sergeant Sam Pyke said sadly police have located the body of the missing man this afternoon.
“We extend our condolences to his family and loved ones,” Act Sen Sgt Pyke said.
“I would like to thank the SES, Queensland Parks and Wildlife, QGAir and all the police officers involved, for their vital assistance with this search. I also want to commend our police divers who worked in extremely difficult conditions to find the missing man.”
Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
